Determine Focus of Observation
Before an observation, coaches need to determine which section(s) of the observation form to complete. Consider the following:
- Which professional development (PD) modules the adult reading partner has completed. Only refer to the Big Ideas and guiding statements from the PD modules the adult has completed. Ex: If an adult has completed the modules on Shared Reading and Follow the CAR, then complete the sections of the observation form with those headings.
- Which shared reading approach the adult reading partner indicated they will use based on the needs of the student(s): Follow the CAR, Put the CROWD in the CAR, or a combination of both.
- Whether observation will include all guiding statements or focus on specific guiding statements that have been targeted for improvement.
